Full Turnkey Design, Build and Test of the NIU Suite including all services and systems.
Client Brief
A new High Impact High Isolation Unit at the MMUH, Dublin which will be the first facility of its type to be built in Ireland.
The facility will be used to handle highly infectious and highly dangerous diseases to prevent the transmission of such to the public, patients and the staff who care for them.
The NIU facility will encompass all necessary elements to provide a fully independent unit, including two individual patient isolation suites, a CL3 Laboratory and several peripheral support areas.
The Solution
Asgard Controlled Environments were appointed the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin to carry out the turnkey design and delivery of the new state of the art unit which will be housed on Level 0 of the recently completed Rock Wing at MMUH.
Through extensive research and liaison with a number of hospitals Asgard Controlled Environment have designed and are currently constructing the new facility which will consist of two number patient Class 3.5 containment suites plus a Class 3 Containment Laboratory. The facility also incorporates a number of items of plant which include Autoclaves, Safety Mist Showers and Gas Tight Filter Housings.
Due to the nature of the suite, there is a very high number of Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC services required to be coordinated within the limited-service void running directly above the suite, added to the suite must provide an airtight seal around the contained areas in accordance with ACDP regulations which added to the challenge presented when routing services.
Asgard Controlled Environments have successfully developed the design and coordination of the facility as well as proposing products and a build methodology which assists the client in building a facility which will perform to all of the stringent performance criteria required of the suite.
